CHOOSING A LOGO IS LIKE CHOOSING A WEDDING DRESS.
As a recent bride who has been through the wedding dress shopping experience, I have realized that the steps to choosing a wedding gown are the same steps to selecting a brand logo.
Make a Great Impression
At a wedding, the dress is a big part of the first view of the bride. A logo is a first view of a company. With both situations, you want to have a great first impression. It should look put together and give off the impression you want.
Express Your Personality
A wedding dress and a logo should express the bride or the businesses personality. Everyone should know a little about you when they are viewing. Are you fun and unique? Are you traditional and elegant?
Stand the Test of Time
Both a logo and a wedding dress should stand the test of time. You don’t want to look back and think “What was I thinking?”. Stay away from anything too trendy. Adding subtle elements that are trending is fine but don’t go overboard or you will be dated shortly.
Don’t Overwhelm Yourself
This is good advice in any decision-making process. It is easy to get overwhelmed with too many options. Try to limit your options and go with your first impressions. It helps to have an idea of what you are looking for before you start.
How Does It Fit Your Theme?
How will it fit in with all of your other items? Does your dress fit your rustic theme or is it too traditional? Is your logo too playful when your business is more traditional?
Stick to your theme so that everything will seamlessly fit together.
Don’t Settle
One of the most important things to remember is to not settle. If you don’t love your dress or logo when it is new you will not love it down the road. Make sure you are happy with your decision.
